Sports Medicine
Sports injuries are injuries that occur when engaging in sports or exercise. Sports medicine is for all athletes and anyone who engages in physical activity. This includes recreational weekend warriors and competitive athletes, such as youth, high school, collegiate, and professional athletes. They can occur due to overtraining, lack of conditioning, and improper form or technique. You are at risk if you haven’t been regularly active, play contact sports, and/or don’t warm up properly before exercise. Different sports injuries produce different symptoms and complications. A sports injury can often be treated non-surgically, and our doctors at Southwest Sports and Spine make every effort to use conservative measures whenever possible.
